Multipurpose distribution, switching and control units in "increased safety e" protection

These multipurpose control boxes (categories 2 G and 2 D) are designed for Zone 1 and 2 areas at risk of gas explosions to EN 50014 and EN 50019 as well as for Zones 21 and 22 to EN 50281-1-1. The enclosures can be made of stove-enameled sheet steel, stainless sheet steel, or polyester. In addition to standard enclosures, special enclosures are fabricated to cus-tomer specifications. The polyester enclosures offer a special advantage: where shielded cables are installed, brass flanges holding suitable cable glands are available for integrating the cable shields into an equipotential bonding system.
The installation of terminals and components in the explosion-proof distribution, switching and control units is restricted in such a way that the surface temperatures of the box remain in compliance with the respective temperature class in spite of the internal dissipation power. In the case of "increased safety e" protection, the hottest spot on the components inside the enclosure is checked.
